Heavy Winter Artillery
Hats, mittens, scarves and puffy coats... the heaviest winter artillery you've got will be needed this weekend as high temperatures struggle to get into the single digits above zero. This winter is shaping up to be a memorable one and just like those old fashioned ones we used to have.
Our cold and snowy December has trickled into the first part of 2011. It hasn't so much been the snow this January, but the cold is attention getting and it may just get worse by next weekend. The first blast of Arctic air rode in on strong northwesterly winds yesterday. Good news, it will be substantially less windy than it was yesterday, but wind chill values will still be an issue with temperatures as low as they are, so bundle up.
The nice thing about cold air is that it tends to be rather dry, so sunshine, albeit icy, will be nice to look at from the window of your nice, cozy home, both today and tomorrow.

We get a little light snow early next week and a brief break from the extreme cold as temperatures warm into the teen (whoopy ding!) but a second, reinforcing shot, of Arctic air (even colder this time) looks to be heading our way by next weekend.
This Weekend Arctic Blast
Next Weekend's Arctic Blast - Could be Coldest of Season!
Keep that spendy gas tank full and take some extra layers along with, you'll need em' - we're in for a long and cold couple of weeks - SIGH!
Have a good weekend - Todd Nelson
