Minnesota Tornado Climatology and Lightning

The image above was caught by Tadd Parris (MN native) on July 14th, 2003 near Searles, MN

Anything and everything you ever wanted to know about Minnesota tornadoes can be found here from the State Climatology Office - DNR Waters at the University of Minnesota

A nice write-up here too about the lack of Minnesota tornadoes thus far in 2009

In recent news, a Florida man captured a bolt of lightning on his video camera... The bolt of lightning was in his front yard, YIKES!! Too close for comfort.

According to the National Weather Service:
The odds of being struck by lightning in a year - 1 in 700,000
The odds of being struck by lightning in your lifetime - 1 in 5000

Lightning Safety Awareness Week: June 21 - 27
