Near Normal Temps Return

The text product below shows one (of many) weather models' interpretation of what the weather will be like over the next 192 hours. I've highlighted the days, high temperatures and the percent chance of rain to make it easier to follow. Notice temperatures are consistently in the 70's and near 80 degrees over the weekend. The percent chance of rain is the highest on Friday with 45%, but drops to just below 30% Saturday and Sunday. Friday does look like the next best chance for an isolated shower or storm, but don't cancel any outdoor plans. Just know that you may have to dodge a rain drop or two in the afternoon.

Here is the graphical output for Friday afternoon by a different weather model. Minnesota is outlined by the dark circular shape. The blotches of contoured colors represent 12 hours of accumulated precipitation. The Twin Cities is in the 0.10" to 0.20" contour, again keep in mind that the spotty showers and storms Friday afternoon will be hit or miss.

Hey, there's good news coming out of Wisconsin as Lake Delton, near Wisconsin Dells, is back in business. You may recall that one year ago, June 9th, Lake Delton (a 267 man-made lake) drained completely after heavy rain and flooding. It emptied into the Wisconsin River and caused major revenue losses for the community last summer (some up to 75% of normal). Here is a before and after satellite image of the lake: and here too:

Incredibly, the lake is back to normal levels and the lake is being stocked with minnows and large game fish, starting the three year recovery program.

Weather Headlines

* Milder and more sunshine Thursday. Still unsettled, possibility of a stray shower or sprinkle, though, a better chance on Friday.

* Warming trend extends into the weekend: mid 70s Saturday, nearing 80 Sunday. Most of the weekend looks dry right now.

* Low 80's possible early next week along with storms.
