Still Ripe for Isolated Tornadoes

Update: 5:45 pm. Check out the towering thunderhead anvils from 22,300 miles above the equator, the latest 1 km. visible image. A tornado watch remains posted for central and southern MN until 11 pm tonight - conditions remain ripe for strong/severe storms by late evening, the most likely time in the Twin Cities metro between 8-10 pm, although that's more of a WAG at this point. Until the storms start to mushroom along old cloud boundaries close to home it's going to be tough pinning down precise arrival times. But between high dew points (have you stepped outside lately?), strong wind shear and impressive instability (CAPE values over 3,000) conditions sure seem primed for an outbreak of violent weather relatively close to home. Stay alert, go about your normal activities, but stay tuned to local media for possible warnings, and check back often for possible warnings, issued on a county-by-county basis.
