Welcome to Augtember

Weather Headlines:
- Temperatures will be nearly 10 degrees warmer on Sunday than what we had Saturday.
- Best chance of rain is Sunday night.
- Average high is 82 degrees, we continue below normal temperatures for the upcoming work week.

I know it's the first weekend of August, but it feels a little more like the first weekend of fall, doesn't it? For a second there on Saturday, I got excited and acutally thought I might be able to catch an NFL football on the tube this weekend... It's terrible, I know, but now that my Fantasy Football team is picked, I am having a hard time waiting for the opening day. I just hope Tom Brady stays healthy this year - man, what a flop that first round pick was in 2008 - UGH!

Thanks to Rich Koivisto for sending me this photo of a rainbow over Lake Superior and Park Point (Duluth, MN) on Saturday. The picture below was captured from the Duluth Marine Museum in Downtown Duluth by the Aerial Lift Bridge, looking northeast. Notice the dark rain shaft over the lake on the left. These instability showers were responsible for rainbow sightings all over the Northland Saturday afternoon.

This is what the weather maps looks like Sunday night as the front pushes through. We may get a quick 0.10" to 0.25" of rain with some spots getting a drip or two more, but I don't think we'll be as lucky as what we had Friday night. I'll keep combing the weather maps for anything that looks more exciting... Stay tuned.
