SATURDAY: Clouds thicken, flurries arrive. High: 14

SUNDAY: Maybe a few flakes early. Clouds break a bit by afternoon, still cold. High: 10

MONDAY: Mostly cloudy with a growing potential of some snow accumulations. High: 16

 

TUESDAY: Last day of fall! Didn't winter start a long time ago? Snow tapers through the day. High: 17

WEDNESDAY: Winter Solstice arrives at 5:38pm. It's OFFICIALLY winter!! Partly cloudy, slightly warmer. High: Around 20

THURSDAY: Christmas EVE EVE looking like a partly snowy travel day. Uncertainty level on snow chances, high! Stay tuned. High: Low 20s

Minnesota Style

"I can take the snow, but I can't take the cold." I can't tell you how many times I've heard that phrase and yes, I guess I can agree with that to some degree. Every times I see those big blobs of Arctic air breaking loose from the Arctic on the weather models, I tend to cringe a little more. I'm not sure I'm such a big fan of everything getting so cold that it creaks and cracks. However, Minnesota tradition would tell you that we are to embrace the cold and snow. What would we be without a little outdoor hockey or a little fishing on a frozen lake through a small hole in the ice. Have you ever taken a hot sauna and then jumped into a snowbank or a frigid lake during winter? For some, this is the best time of the year, for others, it stinks!

Maybe I'm crazy (aren't we all a little?), but I challenge you to find something that may interest you during these winter months. You never know what may stick. You might actually like something and want to try it again. In fact, you may enjoy it so much, you forgot about the winter altogether. Give something a try, it may help to get you out of the winter funk.

Bryan ended up with a fresh 7" of fluff, while Minneapolis & St. Paul, literally got nothing... A shift in the clippers storm track 25 miles east would have snarled up the traffic over the entire Twin Cities on Thursday.

The small and very narrow band of heavy snow that slid 25 to 50 miles west of the Metro yesterday is gone. Interestingly, more measurable snow may be on the way for Monday and just in time, perhaps, for an outdoor NFL football game... Hmm... very interesting...

Monday Snow Chance Increasing
Computer models keep printing out a blob of moisture over central and southern Minnesota on Monday. Temperatures are cold enough for snow... Still a developing storm, but chances of accumulating snow are growing.

Another Pre-Xmas Snow?
This system isn't as impressive, but the extended model is still printing out a little moisture on or around Christmas Eve. Maybe another one of those finicky clipper systems with a narrow band of light fluffy snow?

You Have to See This!
Check out this lighthouse in Cleveland. Strong winds and freezing temperatures on Lake Erie caused freezing spray to encase this lighthouse. See the full story and video from the Washington Post HERE:
